After every acne treatment, a targeted serum typically containing niacinamide, aloe vera, or centella asiatica is applied to quiet inflammation, reduce redness, and support the skin's natural repair process.

Lightweight Moisturizer

Even acne-prone skin needs hydration. We apply a non-comedogenic, barrier-supporting moisturizer that hydrates without congesting pores, keeping skin comfortable and resilient as it heals.

Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

Post-treatment skin is more vulnerable to UV damage and sun exposure can deepen post-acne marks. We finish every session with a clean, non-comedogenic SPF to protect your fresh skin. In sunny Los Angeles, this step is non-negotiable.

  • Come with a clean, makeup-free face
  • Avoid using retinol or strong actives for 48 hours prior
  • Avoid chemical peels or professional exfoliation for at least 1 week prior
  • Let your esthetician know about any current medications, including Accutane (certain treatments require a 12-month pause after Accutane)
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning in the days leading up to your appointment

After Your Treatment

  • Apply SPF 30+ daily — no exceptions
  • Avoid retinol, AHAs, and BHAs for 2–5 days (depending on treatment)
  • Do not pick, squeeze, or touch breakouts — let your skin heal
  • Stay out of direct sun and avoid saunas or steam for 24–48 hours
  • Keep skin hydrated with gentle, non-comedogenic products
  • Follow any specific after-care instructions provided at your appointment

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need to clear my acne?
It depends on your skin and the severity of your acne. Some clients see significant improvement after 2–3 sessions; others with moderate or cystic acne will benefit most from a consistent series of 6–12 treatments spaced 1–2 weeks apart. Your esthetician will give you a realistic expectation during your consultation.
A temporary purge — where underlying congestion comes to the surface — can occur with certain treatments, particularly peels and enzyme therapies. This is a normal part of the clearing process and typically resolves within 1–2 weeks. Your esthetician will prepare you for what to expect.
We recommend going makeup-free for at least 24 hours after most acne treatments to allow the skin to breathe and heal. After a peel, you may need to wait longer. Your esthetician will advise you specifically at the end of your appointment.

Yes. Many of our treatments — including the HydraFacial, DMK Enzyme Therapy, Microcurrent, and Jet Plasma — are safe for all skin tones and sensitive skin. We will always choose and customize your treatment based on your Fitzpatrick skin type and any sensitivities. Some peels (like the Perfect Dermal Peel) are specifically formulated to be used on all skin colors.

Clients currently on Accutane cannot receive certain treatments, including peels and dermaplaning. Some modalities (such as Microcurrent and LED Light Therapy) may still be appropriate. Please let us know during your consultation, and note that the Perfect Dermal Peel requires a 12-month pause after Accutane use.
Yes! The Vivant ProPeel and Cell Story Liquid Microneedling can both be performed on the back. Ask your esthetician about a customized back acne treatment plan.
