Dermaplaning Facial LA
Today it is all about dermaplaning! So, what is dermaplaning exactly? Dermaplaning facial LA is a non-invasive, pain-free cosmetic treatment that targets maximum exfoliation of the epidermis (the top layers of your skin) while simultaneously removing vellus hair (that pesky peach fuzz), diminishes fine lines, minimizes acne scarring & gives you a post-facial glow that even the moon is envious of.
Who is eligible for Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is perfect for all Fitzpatrick with absolutely no downtime whatsoever. However, we do not suggest those who currently have active acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, or sunburn add dermaplaning to their skin routine quite yet. We recommend investing in treatments that are targeted to those skin concerns specifically. Also, if you are on any topical prescription medications, it is essential to let your esthetician know before the treatment.
How is Dermaplaning Facial La done?
Dermaplaning is achieved by using a scalpel. It sounds scary, but remember, this is a completely pain-free treatment. The scalpel allows our skilled estheticians to exfoliate with more detail and precision, leaving your skin smoother than a baby’s bottom.
Benefits of Dermaplaning
As mentioned above, dermaplaning aids in getting rid of the dead skin & dirt that sits on your skin, causing it to look dull & flakey. Dermaplaning has been clinically proven in getting rid of fine lines & lightening acne scarring. As a bonus, dermaplaning allows the products we invest in to penetrate our skin at a deeper level & be more effective. It also allows the makeup we invest in to go on smoother & look flawless rather than getting that cake-y look we all try to avoid.
Can you do this at home?
There are at-home dermaplaning kits you can buy; however, there is a risk of cutting yourself, leading to the spread of bacteria or infection on your skin. There is a specific way the scalpel is used, so it is best to go to a trained esthetician to achieve the maximum results.
How long does the treatment take?
Typically, dermaplaning alone takes about 30-45 minutes. It is also a favorite add-on feature here at Face of Jules to maximize the results of your facial!
Will the hair on my face grow back thicker?
Absolutely not! The hair on our face is known as vellus hair, which is different, finer than the hair that grows on our scalp, arms, & legs. The hair is not being removed from the root; therefore, the hair root is not comprised & the vellus hair will grow back the same thickness as it was prior to the treatment.
How long do the results last?
Every person is different, depending on how fast your hair grows. Usually, it lasts anywhere between 3-5 weeks.
How to prepare for your appointment:
Avoid exfoliating your skin at least 3-4 days before your appointment, as well as using any actives acids (e.g., retinol, glycolic, lactic, etc.).
Risk & Side effects
Most people have little to no reactions to dermaplaning. If you have sensitive skin, you may be a slight flush for about 30 minutes after your treatment, but don’t worry; this is not permanent! Also, it is essential to note that you should not exfoliate for about 4 days after your treatment, not that you’ll need it!
